[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Help please, questions on PC/TCP+

raczka@caen.engin.umich.edu (Christopher Raczka) (03/16/91)

The following is my own concoction, please be gentle,

my questions are regarding the the use of PC/TCP+ on
the Banyan server (8) and Banyan PC's (10) and non-Banyan PC's (5)

+================== ethernet ============================================+
  +---------+ +---------+ +---------+ +--------+
  +Terminal + + repeater+ +ULTRIX + +Banyan +
  + server + 4+---------+ + host + + server +
1 +---------+ | 7+---------+ 8+--------+-----+-----------+
    | | | +banyan ptr+
    | +----+ | 9+-----------+
    | | PC | +----+
   +-------+ 5+----+---+-------+ | PC |
   |printer| |printer| 10+----+---+-------+
 2 +-------+ 6+-------+ |printer|
                                                         11+-------+

my questions are as follows:

- With PC/TCP+ installed on (8), (10) and (5),
can I assign ip addresses to those PC's (141.212.x.x) ???

- How can I print to each printer
  - Do I create a printcap on the ULTRIX host (7)
    for each printer ?

  - Does the Banyan with PC/TCP+ know of printcaps or lpr/lpd ??
      - IF YES, how can I direct output from PC to attached printer
        and other network printers ???
For example .... I'am PC (5) and I desire to print to my attached
printer (6) that should be easy, but how about to
printer (2) on the network or printer (9) on the
                         Banyan server (8) ???
Has someone already had to do something like this, is there
software I could use that I don't know about ????

I'd appreciatea any comments, suggestons, pointers, etc
Thanks very much in advance for all responses
