We have a large ethernet based network on the Acadia campus with one exception. The Business School is currently using arcnet to access our main Novell server. For Novell purposes this is fine. However, they are getting to a point where they now want TCP/IP services like all of the ethernet users. We could set them up using the Wollongong software but besides being very poor software it is also very expensive (there are 60 arcnet stations). Is there some other solution, perferably PD, that would provide novell arcnet users with ethernet-like telnet and ftp services. I have saw some information about ka9q and PCROUTE accomplishing this sort of thing, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done it. I would really like to be able to use NCSA Telnet, but any telnet package would do. Please reply to me directly since I don't normally read this group. Thanks. -- Paul H. Yes. A university such as yourself can use Phil Karn (KA9Q)'s NOS to
route packets between ARCNET and Ethernet. You'll need to FTP it from
thumper.bellcore.com:pub/ka9q/nos/src0302.zip, and recompile it, turning
ARCNET on. Then you'll need the ARCNET packet driver, FTP it from
sun.soe.clarkson.edu:pub/packet-drivers/drivers.zip.

Thanks.
Sorry, if you're unwilling to invest the time to read the group, I'm unwilling
to help only you.
