[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Ungermann-Bass Ethernet card

engwall@mtha.usc.edu (Ralph Engwall) (03/16/91)

I've got an old Ungermann-Bass Ethernet Card with no Docs. It's
a full length 8-bit card with a square controller chip made by
Fujitsu at the top of the board. It has a 15 pin transceiver cable
connector, but no BNC thinwire connector. Is this a PC/NIC board? It
doesn't respond to the version 8.x Clarkson packet driver for the PC/NIC.
The packet driver gets as far as "Packet Driver is at segment xxxx"
and then the machine locks up. I've tried several IRQ and I/O ADDR
settings, but no luck. Any knowlageable UB users out hare that can
clue me in.

Your card sounds like the PC/NIC, except that the NIC doesn't have any
I/O addresses; everything is done via shared memory, so you only need
to set that (it uses 32Kb, settable to any 32Kb boundary from 0x80000
to 0xF8000) and an interrupt (2-7).
