[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] MIT/CMU implementatin of SNMP

amallic@swtec1.intel.com (Asit Mallick ~) (04/06/91)

I am looking for source of a public domain implementation
of SNMP. I was told that a CMU and MIT version exist. Can
anyone send me information about these.

	Thanks in advance.

Take a look at RFC 1147, "FYI on a Network Management Tool Catalog."
Descriptions of both pacakges, along with ftp sites and points-of-contact, are
listed.

The info in the RFC is a litte dated (time marches on...), but it should give
you a good start.

I was remiss in not mentioning that a free SNMP implementation is now bundled in
the ISODE package; this package is not described in RFC 1147. Quoting Dr. Rose:

>You can find a copy in ISODE 6.8 on uu.psi.com in the file
>isode/isode-interim.tar.Z retrieved in BINARY mode via FTP.
