[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] pc bridge not bridging

beser@tron.UUCP (Eric Beser) (05/05/91)

I haave the pc bridge software done by Northwest University and
have it installed in my network. We are bridging four systems
(ip addr 144.126.X.1, 2, 3, 4 to the main campus link and gateway.

the system at the remote site is a sun workstation, pc, unix386 sytem
and mac, connected to bridge. The bridge stores and forwards
packets to the serial line connected to a v32 modem. The main campus
has the identical setup. When I ping the gateway machine, nothing
happens. I see packets being sent out but nothing is coming back.

ftp and telnet time out. The only difference between the ip address
between the two bridges is the subnet.

We checked the obvious. Modems work, serial lines work, the
eithercards work. Phone line is up. I feel that something has
not been done. The host table has the host id from the machine.
From my sun workstation, when I try an ip address not from my netwwork,
I get aa "network not connected" message. I asume that something is
not completly setup right.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
