[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Anyone Working On "User-Friendly" SLIP Or PPP?

Will@cup.portal.com (Will E Estes) (05/08/91)

Does anyone know of a SLIP or PPP implementation for PCs that can
be made user-friendly? In other words, I want a product that will
automatically dialup the correct number when an attempt is made to
connect to a particular TCP name, *and* I want this product to
negotiate the terminal connection to provide any necessary passwords
and then fade into the background without intervention from the user.
It's a little hard to imagine delivering to a naive end-user a
package that requires him to enter in Hayes dialing commands to
connect to a remote site and have to know and remember passwords
to authorize his entry (the end-user probably shouldn't have access
to these passwords in the first place). Please note that I'm not
looking for a router-based solution. I need something that is
packet-driver-based or something that works with an existing commercial
TCP/IP stack.

Thanks,
