This is probably a FAQ, but I haven't seen a FAQ list for this group, so here goes: I have been looking at packages like the Clarkson packet drivers, KA9Q-NOS, CU-TCP, etc, and they look like they are good programs, but none of them has any real documentation to speak of. Does anyone know if there exists any kind of documentation for these programs? I am in the process of setting up a small (about 5 PC's) network in a small academic lab/office. I have the Ethernet cabling installed, and several NE2000 cards. We will eventually install a full blown server setup, i.e. Netware, NFS, or something like that, but right now I'd just like to get the machines to talk to one another, and possibly do FTP, etc. Can this be done using the above mentioned software, without setting up all kinds of fancy IP nameservers and BOOTP servers? I can't even get the test programs that come with the Clarkson drivers (i.e. PKTALL, PKTSEND, etc) to work properly (though the driver itself seems to install properly). Even getting some kind of simple loopback diagnostic test running would be adequate just for hardware demo purposes. If anyone knows of any documentation on this subject please E-mail. I will post a summary if possible. Thanks, Signed, Dumbfounded in Durham :-) -- Paul S. Secinaro University of New Hampsire pss610@unhd.unh.edu p_secinaro@unhh.unh.edu
