[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Kermit with int 14

dan@c-mols.cdale.siu.edu (Dan Ellison) (05/10/91)

The following are the sites that are listed in my ftp.sites file that
offer kermit:

ginosko.samsung.com 134.228.1.1
jade.berkeley.edu 128.32.136.9
kolvi.hut.fi 128.214.3.7
kolvi.hut.fi 130.233.160.32
maxwell.physics.purdue.edu	128.46.135.3
oswego.oswego.edu 129.3.1.1
schizo.samsung.com 134.228.1.2
sperm.ocean.washington.edu 128.208.2.7
watsun.cc.columbia.edu 128.59.39.2

I believe that watson.cc.columbia.edu is an official kermit repository
and might have the latest and greatest there. I personally haven't used
kermit in this way so I can't speak authoratively on how to. I know that
you set port Bios1 to access INT 14 but I'm not sure what has to be done
prior to invoking kermit to start a telnet session. I am carbon copying
this message to the pcip list. Maybe someone there can speak with
authority about how to.

>Dan,
>Could you point me to the latest Kermit, and how exactly to use it via
>ethernet cards? We badly need better than vt100 terminal emulation, and
>so far I haven't found any PD software that does better than vt100.
>Having a kermit for serial communications AS WELL AS ethernet, TCP/IP
>links with vt220 or better would be great!

>Thanks in advance for any info...

gts@MICA.BERKELEY.EDU (Greg Small) (05/11/91)

Jade.Berkeley.EDU no longer offers the UC Berkeley re-distribution of MS-Kermit.
It was moved to tuna which is not accessable outside the UC Berkeley Campus
Network.
