[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] TN3270 question

rcdswal@dutrun2.tudelft.nl (Guus v.d. Wal) (05/24/91)

Hello,

I am using NCSA Telnet 2.2TN, together wit the Clarkson
packet driver for the WD8003E ethernet adapter.

Every now and then, my session halts, that is to say
nothing happens any more, but the <alt> functions of
the terminal emulator still work.
<alt>M reveals two messages:
Bad IP checksum
IP: fragmented packet received, frags not supported

Sometimes after a (long) wait I am able to continue the
session. Mostly I have to <alt>X and restart the session
from start.

Who can tell where those message originate, and how to
prevent their occurence?

O yes, when I do this from home, using SLIP and a 9600 bps
MNP5 moden it happens so frequently that I cannot use TN3270 at all.
Funny, but the cripple vt100 emulating telnet provided with PC/NFS
works like charm using SLIP.
