[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] DEC DEPCA boards and NCSA Telnet

jeffb@csd4.csd.uwm.edu (Jeff Bartig) (06/07/91)

Hello,

I have a couple of DEPCA ethernet boards, both the old and
new variety. I am trying to get them to work with NCSA Telnet.

I have tried using version 9 of the Clarkson packet drivers, which
I was told works only with the new DEPCA boards. I couldn't get
it to work. The packet driver reset the card's ethernet address
to all F's and the network administrators got mad.

I have tried NCSA Telnet's built in decnet hardware type with both
the old and new boards with no luck. No one has been able to tell
me if the decnet type is for the new or old DEPCA boards.

Has anyone had any luck with the DEPCA boards and Telnet? Does
anyone have a phone number or email address of someone at DEC
that could help me out? The documentation for the boards have
no addresses or phone numbers to contact.

Also, does anyone know of a diagnostic program for the old
DEPCA boards? They didn't come with one. The new ones do.

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

Try sun.soe.clarkson.edu:pub/ka9q/depca.com. It works on the DE-200
I borrowed from Potsdam State.
