here, line eater, here boy! Hi! I've been using Reflex as a bibliographic database to keep track of the journal articles, etc. that I have filed away. I woud obviously like to use Hypercard for the same thing. My only problem is in text output. Here is what I need to do: 1. Be able to search each card in the stack by field to find the proper reference. (Easy enough.. I can do that) Also search to match criteria in two or more separate fields (i.e all papers by a certain author in the year 1985, with author and year being separate fields)...(not so easy!..How?) 2. Once found, tag each reference to correspond to the reference footnotes in a manuscript one is writing. (cake) 3. Now sort these tagged cards in ascending order (I think I can, I think I can...) 4. NOW the *real* hard part: for each card now tagged and sorted, I need to make an entry in a text file (or preferably MS Word 3.01 file). This entry should take the required info from fields on the card such as authors, journal, volume, year, etc., AND format the journal as italic, the volume BOLD, etc. In other words, I search through the database, find the cards I want, tag them with the reference number I need. Then HC generates a text file that results in a list of references, in proper order and format for simply pasting into a manuscript. IS THIS POSSIBLE? how do I get just the cards I found in the search to be used to get the field info from? Sorry this is so long, but I don't want to switch to Hypercard for this unless I know it is possible! thanks for any help!
