[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] hayes and hypercard

jdf@pbhyc.UUCP (Jack Fine) (03/03/88)

I have a Mac II user asking for assistance in getting her hypercard address
stack to dial out on her hayes 1200 modem. She can dial out okay on Red
Ryder version 10.3. But on the hypercard dial it dials three numbers and
promptly drops everything, all lights, carrier, nothing. That three
numbers is not exact but an estimation. Any ideas?

Thanks
Jack

Jack Fine reports that a friend can get RedRyder but not HC's address stack
to dial for her Hayes modem. This is probably due the fact that RedRyder
prefixes the phone number with the proper Hayes modem commands. For example,
I use "ATDT"; see your modem's manual for the right commands. HC's address
stack does not send model commands. Note that HC's phone stack *will* send
modem commands, and that HC's dial command can take account of modem
commands. If someone really wants to use their modem from the address
stack, they could add the "with modem" keywords and commands to the relevant
phone field. This may require minor modification of the script for the
phone button. Look at the script of the phone stack for hints.

I have found that phoning from the Address Stack does send the Hayes
ATDT, as I have used HC as an autodialer from Address. Go into the
phone stack. I faintly remember some user-friendly setup capability,
and think it was there.
