[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Problem printing address labels on Imagewriter II

hemphill@cit-vax.Caltech.Edu (Scott Hemphill) (03/23/88)

I am having trouble printing address labels with hypercard. There are two
major symptoms: first, I lose the fourth line of the three labels which
appear at the top of the first page of labels. I can't vouch for the pages
after this--the top three labels only have three lines each. Anyway, this
problem is easily worked around--I just start with three dummy labels. The
second symptom is the one that is really driving me crazy. At least one in
three labels is missing part or all of the last character on its longest line.
Now, the "longest line" doesn't have to be very long. Some lines having this
problem are less than an inch and a half long. I have other labels which have
lines that are pushing the two and a half inch label width which print
perfectly. I have tried everything I could think of: adding extra spaces at
the end of the line... changing the text font of the background field (which
didn't change the fact that the Imagewriter II was using its own font)....
Nothing seemed to make any difference whatever. Well, here are the specifics:

Mac+ 1 Meg.
System 4.2
Finder 6.0
Hypercard version 1.0.1 (modified Thu Aug 6, 1987, 10:27 pm)
   (came free with the Mac)
using an unmodfied version of the Address Stack that came with hypercard.
   (but with my own cards)

Printing parameters:

Manual Paper Feed: off
Darker Printing: off
Arrange fields in: Labels
Print text fields from all cards: with the current background
which fields: selected background fields: Name and Address

Dimensions: 0.0312 0.9375 0..0625
   inches 0.375 2.5 0.125

I am using 2&1/2" by 15/16" address labels in a 3 across format in an
Imagewriter II.

That is all I can think of to say about the problem. I am new to the Mac and
new to this newsgroup, but I did read all the unexpired news at our site to
see if I was rehashing a recently mentioned problem.

Please reply promptly if you can help. I need to get my address labels
printed as soon as possible.

P.S. I am going to try to lay my hands on hypercard version 1.1 as soon as I
can to see if my problem is fixed.
