Is there any way in HC to write directly into the clipboard? I have certainly found rather awkward ways of achieving this end. But it requires writing the container first into a field (usually scrolling if the length to be copied is variable), selecting the contents in order to get the "copy text" menu item available, then copying text. The field used as an intermediary here must be visible, and one cannot set lockscreen to true during this operation or only the visible screen's worth (not the full contents of a scrolling field) are copied into the clipboard. If anyone knows of an appreciably simpler way of arriving at the same end, I would greatly appreciate knowing. One wonders why the clipboard cannot be treated pretty much like any other container. If anyone of note withing the HC development team is listening, is such a facility possible? Thanks to all who take the trouble to reply, david a. belsley boston college belsley@bcvax3.bitnet

John Pugh made a set of XCMDs for reading from / writing to the clipboard. I haven't tried them yet, but I guess they work. You can reach the author at: pugh@nmfecc.arpa PO Box 5509 L-561 Livermore, CA 94550 (415) 4239 4239
