XCMDs should be 32K or smaller. If you need more functionality, chain several XCMDs together. If you keep XCMDs to this size, they will always work with HyperCard in a 750KB MultiFinder partition. There are lots of ways to get around this somewhat arbitrary limit, but if you want to work well in lots of different memory situations, keep them to under 32K for now. There are many factors contributing to this recommendation, which could be elucidated if the net readers really want a gory bits and bytes explanation...
