Someone pointed out that Apple made a mistake by dropping the DTR
signal in the stack before the phone number is dialed out. On some modem,
the DTR signal can be forced up by a switch. I don't have the switch on my
modem. If it is indeed a mistake, why couldn't Apple simply write a XCMD to
overrule the original DIAL command. So to make people like me happier. I
would love to write one myself, but at this stage I don't know enough about
XCMD and how the modem serial port is initiated. I'd appreciate it if
someone can give me a light on it.
