Someone pointed out that Apple made a mistake by dropping the DTR signal in the stack before the phone number is dialed out. On some modem, the DTR signal can be forced up by a switch. I don't have the switch on my modem. If it is indeed a mistake, why couldn't Apple simply write a XCMD to overrule the original DIAL command. So to make people like me happier. I would love to write one myself, but at this stage I don't know enough about XCMD and how the modem serial port is initiated.
