Jeanne A. E. DeVoto in reply to an original request suggests using and idle handler + blindTyping to intercept keystrokes, I used to do this but its sloooow! So I wrote an XCMD "lockControl" which "locks" the "control key" found on adb keyboards - even if yours is not an adb keyboard... This causes "controlKey num" messages to be sent for every key type (except control key combinations which I pass unaltered). This XCMD has been posted to the sources group here in the UK - I long ago gave up trying to submit things to the US based groups.
