Thanks for the reply, Michael! I really started out in Fall of 1987 to write an undergraduate text on computer design which takes a computer-aided modelling perspective. My original goal for the VLSI stack was to provide an example computer design as a supplement to the book. I started out with a fairly complete outline of the material (viewgraphs from the class) and a fair amount of detailed design material (simulation files, layouts, etc.) Production of the stack easily exceeded the amount of effort that was required to write the first draft of seventeen book chapters! And this was with a good plan in hand! I admit that more tutorial information was needed than I had originally anticipated because I wanted the stacks to be more "stand alone" in nature. Now if we can only convince University administrators that this is a good, productive and scholarly use of faculty time .... This is a serious issue that must be resolved before faculty will commit time to the development of courseware, etc. [Changing gears.] Hypertext needs to be experienced. I've seen some reasonably astute people miss the point of (advantages of?) HyperCard by depending upon superficial notions of hypertext, the tool itself, etc. [Changing gears, again.] I would like to post version 0.9 to the net. What is the preferred method for postings (encoding, etc.)? Thanks, as they say, in advance! paul j. drongowski usenet: {decvax, sun, att}!cwjcc!pjd!pjd case western reserve university csnet: pjd@alpha.ces.cwru.edu
