[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Can you tell if HC "open" exits HC or not?

Problem: I have a handle to some private XCMD/XFCN data, at present
I alter the startUp & resume handlers in the Home stack to inform
my XCMD that the handle is no longer valid. Presumably, if running
under MultiFinder the HC "open" command will NOT terminate HC, so
when the "resume" comes the handle is STILL valid. Does anybody
know how you can tell in an "open" terminates HC (and hence my handle)
or simply suspends it? I believe suspend/resume occur whichever happens.
