Does anyone know the algorithm HyperCard uses to encrypt the
answer typed into an "ask password" command? I'm writing an
"askSecret" XCMD that works just like "ask", save for the fact
that it obscures what the user types with bullets.
"askSecret password" also works, but it uses an encryption scheme
of my own devising. I thought it would be nice if "askSecret password"
returned the same number that "ask password" did (for the same input)
so that "askSecret" could be easily substituted into existing stacks
without having to convert any encrypted responses already saved in
the stack.
