[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] problem button in stack

I am having difficulty with a stack that exhibits the following 
strange behavior. When I add a button with its associated script 
everything seems fine. However, when I mousedown upon the 
new button, I get an 'Out of memory' dialog box to show up. If I 
add another different button , this new button works fine, but 
the problem with old bad button persists. Debug statements 
tell me that the 'Out of memory' error occurs before any lines of its 
script are executed. Does anyone know what is going on? I'm running 
this using Hypercard 1.2.2 on a Mac II using the latest system, finder 
and multifinder.
