I've just installed Hypercard 1.2.5 on my MacII (and system 6.0.4) and I have a problem, which I think also happened with earlier versions of Hypercard, but I can't remember the fix, if there is one. The problem is: If I put Hypercard, and Home in a folder called "Hypercard Stacks", and double click hypercard to launch it, all is ok. If I move Hypercard to the Desktop, and try to launch it from there, it cant find Home by itself. The funny thing is, this used to work with v1.2.2. Can anyone tell me (a) if there's any way round this, or (b) confirm that hypercard has changed in some odd way so that this is no longer possible? (As a workround, I can put Home on the desktop instead, but I'd still like to know why this problem has occurred!)

Are you sure it used to work with version 1.2.2? I just tried moving HyperCard to my root folder. When I started it up, sure enough it asked me where Home was. There is a string resource inside HyperCard that tells it where to look for the Home stack. If you want to put HyperCard in a different folder than the one your Home stack is in, you have to change this resource. If you're handy with ResEdit all you have to do is change the second string in the "Misc" STR# resource. (The first string is the name of the Home stack, which you can also change.)
