The signalman modem you speak of is available for (the smallest I have seen
anyway) $319. This is a full AUTO-DIAL/FULL duplex 212A modem (direct connect)
It also (If i remember correctly) derives power from the phone line, so is much
easier to use/locate since you don't need an a/c outlet. Anyway, we have
ordered 6 of them for work, and after talking with several sales reps and some
techinical folks, they all say the same thing, they are full hayes smartmodem
compatible. Looks like a very good deal to me. These modems are available from
JADE in LA for about $359 ($328 for 6 or more) but I found them for $319 from
IMAGE COMPUTER (619) 436-8317. I guess once we get them I can say a bit more
about them, but I myself am going to buy one for me sometime next week.

A friend of mine just purchased one of the oldest modems I have
ever seen at a recent computer festival. It was made by ANDERSON JACOBSON
INC, in sunnyvale california. The problem is that now he wishes to use this
to link up with the Vax 11/780 here at St. Joes. University. What I was hoping
is that someone out there has some manuals or documentation on the thing.

The stats as far as I know are:

	Anderson Jacobson Inc.
	Sunnyvale California

	ADAC - 1200
	power: 115 vac
	       60 Hz
	       1/4 A.
	Serial # 0375,01

If anyone has any information about it, please mail me.

					Thanks Alot in Advance

Sorry I can't help on the ADAC 1200 but my AJ ADC-260, a 300-baud *acoustic*
modem, might be even older...
