I have a stack which maintains a sorted order by "cutting" a newly created
card and then "pasting" it into the correct location in the stack. Every
so often, rather than maintaining the card's old background it will create
a new background for the pasted version of the card. Is this a known bug?
[Note: I wasn't holding down any option/pretzel keys which might have
modified the operation of the paste function].

Stephen Kurtzman (kurtzman@pollux.usc.edu) writes that every now and then, when he cuts a card and pastes it elsewhere in the stack it is given a new background -- I have experienced this as well, the card is cut OK, and it looks fine when it is pasted back, but it is given a new background ID. This is a major pain if you have scripts with lines like "go to next card of this background", among others. I haven't spent alot of time trying to isolate the problem, but it seemed to occur only if I sorted the stack between cutting a card and pasting it. Since I gave up on using HyperCard's sort feature in that particular stack, the problem seems to have gone away. ----- ----- lee@cs.umass.edu Peter E.
