Hello, I'd like to use dialog boxes that are a bit different from those provided by the ask and answer commands. Can anyone tell me how to go about customizing dialog boxes? Here's what I want to do: Have a dialog box that acts like the answer box, but doesn't show the heavy border that normally emphasizes one of the replies. (The stack is designed for use without a keyboard, so the user can't hit return to choose the highlighted reply.) It would also be helpful to create a dialog box that goes away on its own after a certain amount of time, without requiring a click from the user. (I could do this by showing and hiding a field, I suppose, but I think a dialog box would be easier.) Is this possible? Thanks a lot for any help! Jane

You create the dialog in HyperCard and its powerful XCMDs compile it into the proper resources. It even includes PICT, sicn, and ICON making routines. You can do the timing of your dialog with some fancy scripting within an idle handler (& Dialoger's "Dismiss" command). It's reasonably priced and well supported.
