There is a way to do this through a XCMD, and a way to do it through hypercard script. I know of no XCMD that does this so, The script would look like this: select field "the field you want" domenu "copy text" It's fairly self-explanatory, the first line selects your field, and the second copies the selected text. The menu command MIGHT not actually be "copy text" (it might just be "copy") but its something like that. I doubt that a XCMD would exist since the script isn't too long. -Ron Smith

Whoops! i should have known better. It is quite easy to copy the contents of a field to the clipboard: simply doMenu "Copy Text". After that, of course, the contents of the clipboard can be easily pasted into any other document. However, the textstyle and font are lost in the process. so my original problem still remains: i want to put the contents of a field to a disk file in the form of some common word processing software such as fullwrite or MacWrite. I have heard that Ashton-Tate is not disposed towards releasing this sort of information, but does anyone know how to approach Claris for information about the structure of macwrite documents? or is this information available elsewhere? thanks for the advice!

This is in response to a query from M G Sriram who was looking for a way to move text, including font and style, from HyperCard to a word processor.: You might want to look into the idea which others on here have been discussing recently of imbedding Word RTF info in exported text. If you don't have information on RTF and are interested, I could see if I can dig some up from my archives, or at least direct you to the people who posted messages about it before. ^^^^^ The above statement expresses the views of the individual and does not necessarily reflect the views or concerns of this place of origin. -- BARRY CHERN via cmhGate - Net 226 fido<=>uucp gateway Col, OH UUCP: ...!osu-cis!n8emr!cmhgate!200!BARRY.CHERN INET: BARRY.CHERN@f200.n226.z1.FIDONET.ORG
