[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] HyperCard utilities?

keith@ac.dal.ca (03/02/90)

There are a number outilites which are supposed to make HC a more powerful
development system. Heizer Software sells WindowIt and CompileIt. There are
a couple of BASIC XCMD compilers and a DA script editor. I have started do
a lots of programming in HC and would like to know whether these products
are worth using. I'd appreciate any information on these or other related
products.

Thanks, Keith

I recently wrote and posted a shareware stack which allows a
HyperCard programer to work with multiple objects. It has 14 or
15 functions that can be applied to all objects selected from a
dialog box. So basically, you invoke the script, choose the
objects you want to work with (shift-clicking), and then choose
the function you want applied to them, say, HIDE or SHOW or DELETE
or MOVE TO BACKGROUND or CHANGE TEXT ATTRIBUTES (useful for
buttons) or ALIGN OBJECTS one of the other functions. I can't say
that I use it constantly, but every now and then it is incredibly
useful because of all the time it takes to repeat actions in HyperCard.

I haven't seen it go by in comp.binaries.mac yet though I
wasn't watching for a week or so at one point. However, it is at
sumex-aim.stanford.edu in the hypercard directory under the name
    penguin_util.sit or something similar.
