I'm looking for a way to open a document without knowing the path of the application. The finder seems to manage finding applications when you double click on them... The Desktop file apparently contains the APPL resource which says where applications live. The open command only wants applications, though; or, if you supply a document, the name of the application has to be known (and its home has to be in one of hypercard's directories.) If I were to do this with an XCMD, I'm still not sure where to start to parse the APPL resource in the desktop. -- Larry Masinter (masinter@parc.xerox.com) Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) 3333 Coyote Hill Road; Palo Alto, CA USA 94304
