Due to the infinite wisdom of the Army, we are being allowed (?) to buy WYSE 1100 microcomputers for use as office automation systems. Does anyone out in netland have any experience with these machines? I am particularly interested in: 1. Speed of operation. How does it compare the IBM PC? 2. Software. Are there Fortran and C compilers available? What about packages like Lotus, and word processors? 3. Reliablility. This is a key. Since we can't get a demonstration until July, I have no feel for how substantial/flimsy this machine is. I know there are better machines out there, but the red tape seems to be insurmountable to buy anything else. It's obviously an example of the Second Law of Bureaucracy. Please send your replies directly to me. If there is interest, I will summarize to the net. Thanks in advance. Chaz Fisher <chazf@BRL-TBD.ARPA>
