About a week ago, I asked the help of you NetLanders to settle an argument with my local Apple dealer. As a result, I was *OVERWHELMED* with reactions, simply too much to e-mail each and every replier in person to say thank you, so here it is to all of you who bothered to reply: THANKS A LOT, you have been *very* helpful. Especially those of you (and there were quite a few) working in Cupertino proved to be very authorative. It looks like I am getting HC2.0 and system 6.0.5. as soon as it is available (which will take a couple of months). I will summarize the results of my query: I asked: does HyperCard 2.0 requires system 6.0.5 or later? The general opinion is: yes, it does. Although some beta testers reported to have used it successfully under 6.0.4., this is not recomended. My second question was: is it hard to upgrade from 6.0.3 to 6.0.5. The responses were a bit different. Those who did upgrade from 6.0.3 to 6.0.5. reported invariantly: no, it is not difficult at all. Those who are knowledgeable about the internals of both versions said that there are incompatibilities between the two, so problems could be expected. However, from the good experiences reported by the practitioners (who upgraded without knowing the risks) these dangers are purely theoretical. Huub van Thienen huub@cs.kun.nl
