Is there a simple way to eject a CD-ROM from within HyperCard or SuperCard? Is it built into the Mac System, or the CD-ROM driver, or can it be done as an XCMD? (I assume it can, I just don't know how, but I am willing to try writing such an XCMD if someone will point me in the right direction.) We have a CD-ROM connected to an SE/30 in our library. It is mostly used to do SilverPlatter MedLine searches. We'd like to put a HyperCard front end on so that patrons could use it for their own CD-ROMs as well. Thanks. Pete Z. The Hypercard CD Audio Toolkit, available from APDA, has a simple eject XCMD. You can get more information than you ever wanted to know about the CD-ROM drive from either the AppleCD SC Developers Guide (APDA) or Apple Technical Report 16, "CD-ROM & the Macintosh Computer", available on the Developer Helper Series (Phil & Dave's Excellent CD, A Disc Called Wanda, Discy Business) or d e v e l o p magazine's accompanying CD-ROM. --Brian Bechtel blob@apple.com "My opinion, not Apple's"

As Brian says (in <9313@goofy.Apple.COM>), you can use Apple's CD Audio Toolkit to control a CD-ROM drive. Your other option is Voyager's CD Audio Stack. You'll have to pay more for the Voyager stuff ($99), but it's a bit better than Apple's. You can reach Voyager at (800) 446-2001.
