[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Description of HyperCard 2.0

Mike.Williams@comp.vuw.ac.nz (Mike Williams) (08/03/90)

I've been told that a description of the features of HyperCard 2.0 was
posted to this group a while ago ... could anyone email me a copy ?

    Thanks in advance ...

Yes, it's been reported that HyperCard 2.0 has vastly improved printing and
reporting features. However, you can print selected cards from a stack in
1.x:

open printing -- or "open printing with dialog"
  print this card
  print card 23
  print card "foo"
  close printing

This will print those cards specified, using the settings from the Print
Stack dialog.

I'm still looking for some sort of rundown on the features of HyperCard
2.0. I'm particularly interested in whether is has improved report
printing facilities, eg. the ability to print selected cards from a
stack. Could anyone who has a copy help me out ?

I haven't seen one concise document on 2.0 features; but there's been lots of
conversation on CI$, and my local user group got a glitzy 3 disk set of stacks
from Apple that goes into great detail and includes some visual mock-ups.

"They" say that in 2.0 cards will have a new property known as "marked". I think
you will be able to set cards to marked manually or from within scripts, and
then "print marked cards", or something equally simple. Even better, you can
script with the print command to print any expression, so you could specify
fields by name, or even "print fld a + field b", and if those fields contain
numbers the sum would be printed. The possibilities go way beyond these plebian
examples.
