[net.micro] Want foreign alphabets on your PC?

Through the kindness of the humanities computing project here at Duke, I
have been authorized to offer our foreign alphabet programs to any
interested party. At the present these include:

- Makefont - a character generation utility that allows a user to
        design custom fonts.

- PC-Write, Bob Wallace's "shareware" word processor which I have
modified slightly to handle nonstandard alphabets.

- Loadfont - a small utility that switches between default and
        custom fonts.

- Printfont - a utility to print text in foreign alphabets on the
IBM graphics printer (available "Real Soon Now").

- More goodies to come throughout the summer, both for the PC and
        for the Victor 9000.

The only hitch is that these programs all require the Enhanced Graphics
Adapter. For the time being we want to work in text mode instead of
graphics mode. This gives our work maximum compatibility with existing
applications, and preserves a reasonable speed. The EGA is the only PC
graphics card, of which I am aware, that provides a completely user-
definable character generator in text mode (if anyone knows of other
graphics cards that do this, please tell me).

I will be happy to mail further information to anyone interested. To
receive these programs, please send me a blank diskette and a stamped
self-addressed mailer, or $10 to cover diskette and postage.
