[net.micro] ATT chips -- purpose of info-micro

jrodrig@EDN-VAX.ARPA (Jose Rodriguez) (05/06/85)

Gentlemen:

Through the duration of the Arpa-UUCP bridge we have seen many
messages of what I would consider of dubious value. For example:

The continuous flames on Intel vs. Motorola chips
(those this discussion blossom every year in spring?)

Repeated msgs on selling varied things

I guess I could live with these but know I just saw a msg that I think
merits the attention of all DDN users: should those announcements from
ATT on its chips be allowed to go through? Has anyone thought what the
sponsor of this network would think about it? Would it be fair to allow
only one manufacturer? Remember this network is maintained by tax
payers.

To the powers that be at BRL: what is your opion on this topic? Let me
begin in the begining, do you think the issues I am bringing up
worthy of discussion?

To anyone from DCA (Pat, are you listening?): what is your opnion on this?

And to you all DDN people, what do you think about the current slanting
info-micro has been taking?

sincerely,

Jose M. Rodriguez
