I've built a stack that I want to run instead of the Finder at start-up so I replaced the Finder with HyperCard renamed to Finder and edited the Home stack to suit my purpose, but now I have a problem. On the Home card I have a button that launches Word with a document (open "document name" with "application") and it works, but when I quit Word it relauches and brings up an untilted document. Then if I quit again it will then go back to HyperCard. I've also tried to do this without HyperCard installed as the Finder and it works fine. Anybody have any guesses on how to fix this problem. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks in advance. Michael L. Peterson mpeterso@aludra.usc.edu

You're launching Word from a button on your Home stack; is the user choosing this button, or does some other script click on the button? One solution, if you don't mind the possibility of someone getting out of HyperCard to the Finder, is have HyperCard start through set startup on the special menu. Or, through use of a global variable, you can have HyperCard remember whether Word was launched previously, and/or whether that document was edited. If no other script than that button is involved, I'm confused also.
