[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] working around error-messages

ollef@sics.se (Olle Furberg) (10/12/90)

As we all know there is no way to intercept error-messages in HyperCard and
I haven't find any solution for this in HC 2.0 either.

But, I have a slightly different question. I have a dedicated MacPlus which
connects to two fileservers every night and collects information from one
of the stacks (pictures and text) and then place it on the other server
(in fact an aufs-server). After that it reboots (just to unmount the servers)
and waits for the next night. This usually works without any interaction but:

The problem is that these fileservers are not so stable, sometimes I could
get errors while trying to read from these servers due to problems with the
net and/or the servers. This puts up a d*mn dialogbox, informing the non-
existing user of the error and then stops the whole script.

What I want is some patch that automatically would do some low level reset
when any such things occurs. In that way the machine restarts and will gives
the control to the Startup-script (HC is the StartUp application).

    /Olle

PS

(For the present I use HC 1.2.2 because that's the only HC that could fit
on a 800 K disk together with System software and AppleShare stuff.)
