[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] 2.0 lament

saaf@joker.optics.rochester.edu (Lennart Saaf) (10/15/90)

Okay, I know I have no constitutional right to have Hypercard or even
to buy it. But I think it's a shame that something Apple is going to
give away free anyway is still not available. I wouldn't mind paying
the $50 that much. But what's the phone number? Are they in stock?
And it's not going to be available for FTP. I looked today and saw
the new ftp.apple.com machine. Something's up with the permissions so
I could only take a look at a directory listing. "d e v e l o p" and
"spinside mac" are there (or will be shortly I presume) as well as
umpteen versions of HC 1.2.5. No 2.0. It would be so easy. But now
if I want it I have to scrounge around and see if I can steal it from
one of the "privileged." I will be surprised if 2.0 is available for
purchase before the end of the year. I want to like Apple but it's so
HARD ! :-)

Claris hasn't started taking upgrade orders yet. You'll hear it here when
they start taking orders. Meanwhile, you can get the five distribution
disks from most user groups. All that's missing is the documentation...but
the disks include the full online help system.
