[net.micro] Hard info about hard disks for the C64?

Does anyone have any information about (and/or experience with)
hooking a hard disk to the Commodore 64?  I'm writing a lot of
assembly code and I seem to spend 80% of my time waiting for the
@#$%^&* I/O!!
