Ok, I've got a bit of a problem and was wondering if anyone can help. I have been trying to make an xfcn to do some heavy string manipulation on a 150,000 to 400,000 character variable from HyperCard. For some reason, I cannot seem to get or pass back more than 30,000 characters. I am NOT using fields to store the data and I am not using any TextEdit records in my xfcn so I cannot figure out why this limitation exists. Is there a way to directly reference and alter a Hypercard Global without passing it to the xfcn? Any help would be greatly appreciated! ----- Thanks ----- ----- Boyd ----- boyd@cs.arizona.edu

However, you have to have GOBS of memory because your variable, as well as the COPY of it that's passed to your XCMD, must all fit in RAM.
