I am designing a database for my division. Basically, this database will deal with bookkeeping and reports of billing information. It needs simple searches for records, heavy calculations and lots of cross references of data among different modules. I am currently using Double Helix 3.0 for the database design. The software was bought when there was a very high appraisal for it two years ago because of its icon-based style. The division though that, after buying the software, there was no need for a programmer to do the database design. Of course, things didn't go as they expected. I, as a programmer, was called in to start the database design all over again. I have done many database systems on the PC platform and am "spoiled" by programming languages. When I first got in touch with Double Helix, my mind get crippled. I dislike the way of drag-and-click for programmings. Changing and rearranging the icons for modifications is especially painful. In addition, it makes documenting the database much more difficult. Anyway, I am suffering. Therefore, I plan to shift the database system to the other softwares. I have done some scripting in Hypercard. I believe all of the functions needed in my database can be done in Hypercard. However, I am concerned the performance. Is there any one who has done seriously database systems in Hypercard? I highly appreciate any suggestions for this case. Thanks. ******************************************************************************* __ ____ __ \ /|\ / Wang, Fengkwei Raymond \/ | \/ Franklin Hall, M108, Audio-Visual Center |-- Bloomington, IN 47405 |/ Home:(812)857-4456 Office:(812)855-1983 |\ E-mail: wangfeng@copper.ucs.indiana.edu *******************************************************************************
