[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Hypercard 2.0 Button Problem

george@swbatl.sbc.com (George Nincehelser 5-6544) (11/13/90)

I am having a problem with Hypercard 2.0 bombing out. I don't know if this
is a problem with eariler versions because I have not used them.

Say I create a new stack. On the first card I put two buttons. I create a
second card with one button.

Now, I link the button on the second card to the first card. No problem.

Then, I link the first button on the first card to the second card. No problem.

After that, I try to link the second button on the first card to the second
card....all go well until I push the button "This Card" in the link dialog box.
BOOMMMM!!! While experimenting I got all kinds of different error messages....
address error...coprocessor not installed....funky flashing screen...
raspberries....

I've tried a bunch of things...

Reinstalled System 6.0.7
Reinstalled the Hypercard 2.0 program
Removed all INITs from my system folder
Increasing system heap size
Increasing Hypercard's memory allocation
Running under Finder instead of MultiFinder
Booting of off a locked copy of 6.07 System Tools

All to no avail.

My system is a 2 1/2 Meg RAM SE running 6.0.7 usually under MultiFinder with
a bunch of INITs.

Any Ideas?

This is a known bug with HyperCard 2.0 on 68000 machines. It has been
fixed in 2.0v2, which is the version that Claris will distribute (and is
currently taking upgrade orders for).
