I have observed in HyperCard 2.0v2 that if you have a very large number of fonts, that it can take quite a long time (compared to HC 1.2.5) to select the browse tool after selecting any paint tool. For me it takes over 3 seconds on a MacIIcx with 8MB. This problem can easily be reproduced by creating a new stack, (it doesn't matter if it gets its own window) and tearing off the tools palette. I click on the marquee tool and get about 1/2 second of watch cursor and then the normal arrow cursor. Then I click on the browse tool and get over 3 seconds (!!!) of watch cursor before I get the arror cursor. I have over 60 font names in suitcases and when I get rid of most of them, the delay is less than 1/2 second in each case. No disk activity seems to happen during the busy time. Has anyone else seen this? Know what's going on? I'm running 6.0.5 and the problem happens independent of Multifinder and file caching. I called Claris tech support and they cheerily took down all the info and said they would look into it. -- Jeff ---------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Rubin jbr@amdahl.key.com ...!amdahl!key!jbr
