I've been battling a HyperCard card-printing problem for about a year now, and now that I've found it (someone else may be still suffering)... I've had a card with four equal-sized fields on it, all otherwise identical (and side-by-side). They're all 9 point helvetica. The last two print fine. The first two have always printed in an ugly bitmap font on the LaserWriter. Now I know why. The first two fields had buttons overlapping them - the other two fields didn't. If you overlap fields and buttons in different ways, HyperCard seems to get to a complexity limit (trying to decide what overlaps what) and drops back to printing the field in a bitmap font. The LaserWriter should be able to print things on top of other things OK, but HyperCard doesn't seem to let it. It doesn't seem to be tripped up by painting on the card. HyperCard 2.0 prints fine - even prints the button's text in a LaserWriter font (1.2.x didn't). ======================== Tom Evans tom@wcc.oz.au Webster Computer Corp P/L, 1270 Ferntree Gully Rd Scoresby, Melbourne 3179 Victoria, Australia 61-3-764-1100 FAX ...764-1179
