I have a question about the way that Hypercard 2.0 uses the memory that is allocated for it. Maybe someone from Apple can comment. I have an 8 or 9Mb stack that I often search through using the "find" command. In earlier versions of Hypercard things would really speed up after the first couple of "find"'s as things were cached in memory. With HC2.0v2 I noticed that there were a consistent high level of disk accesses (and little speed improvement) after repeated "find"s. I used "About Finder" to show how much of Hypercard's RAM was beeing used and noticed that no matter how much RAM I gave Hypercard (by adjusting its size in the Get Info box) it only shows to be using up to about 2Mb. At that point it levels off, freeing and using a little bit at a time. Is Hypercard no longer caching as much information? Why doesn't it used all that extra memory available to do so? I have an 8Mb IIci and allocated up to 5.5Mb for Hypercard. Thanks in advance for any insight. -- Steve Martin USENET: {ctvax,im4u,texsun,rice}!ti-csl!martin The opinions in this ARPANET: SMARTIN@CSC.TI.COM COMPUSERVE: 72727,1471 article are my own.
