To my amazement, someone is interested in purchasing a HC 1.2 stack that I wrote, but wants it to run in an IBM environment. What is the best or easiest way of making the conversion from HC to its equivalent in the IBM world? How hard is it to do? Will it look and act like the real thing?

The easiest way I've found to make such a port is to use Spinnaker's PLUS. Spinnaker has a PLUS that runs on each of the Mac, OS/2, and DOS. Files are compatible between all three, and the Mac version can import HyperCard stacks. So, use the Mac PLUS to convert the stack to PLUS format, then use the Apple File Exchange to copy the file over to an IBM DOS format. I've done this and it works. The biggest losses are creating XCMD/XFCNs anew for the IBM side, and that sound on the IBM side seriously gags. I haven't tried converting icons, so I don't know how well that works. But graphics port amazingly well, and you get color on the IBM side. Mark Guzdial guzdial@csmil.umich.edu
