Help.  I am trying to write an XFCN which will read the serial port buffer
and return the contents of the buffer to the calling program (not necessarily HyperCard). I have been using an example program from an old issue of MacTutor to help me with the serial port part of this XFCN.  Someone at a local computer 
store has told me that the basic structures for such a XFCN already exist and
are readily available.  I thought the net was about as 'readily available' a
source as anything.

Does anyone have such a gem of code, or know where I might obtain it?  Or does anyone have any special suggestions or cautionary tales?

I would like to be able to hook up a digital scale to my Mac through the serial
port and have the data downloaded right into my database.
