Hi all, I'm not sure that what I want is even possible, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Wanted: A text editor/ word processor that will transparently take over the function of TextEdit in Hypercard. The editor would be used in a stack which frequently needs to store and operate on text greater than 32K in size. Presently editing takes place outside Hypercard in a word processor and the resulting text file is imported to a series of cards. I am looking for an add-on editor that will obviate the necessity for an external word processor. At the moment fifty percent of my scripting effort goes into working around problems that would be non-existent if Hypercard had the basic editing capabilities of some shareware Desk Accessories. Basically what I am looking for is a cut down MacWrite 4.6. The most important requirement is that it overcome Hypercard's 32K limitation on field sizes. Ideally it should allow both storing and editing of fields of arbitrary size, limited only by available memory. Some word processing capabilities such as basic ruler functions, support for styled text, and, ideally, the ability to save and read text in Microsoft's Rich Text Format would be of considerable benefit. Support for international character sets, coloured text, or more advanced word processing functions (such as footnotes) is not necessary. The fields produced should be transparent to any XCMD that operates on a Hypercard container, as well as to inbuilt Hypercard 2 commands. I would be interested in hearing about any commercial add-on editor that met any of the above requirements. Thanks in advance for any help, Neale *************************************************************************** Neale Hays n_hays@fennel.cc.uwa.oz.au The University of Western Australia ***************************************************************************
