About California Digital and Computer Mail Order
I would not reccomend that anybody buy anything from California
Digital. I had an extremly bad experience with them a couple
of years ago, almost getting ripped off for > than $700
I had an experience with Computer Mail Order that was both
exasperating and humorous. I wanted an Everex Graphics Edge
card for my IBM PC. I called Computer Mail Order (CMO) and
had the following conversation
Me "Do you have the Everex Graphics Edge in stock?"
CMO "Yes, we have plenty of them"
Me "Send me one"
CMO "O.K."
2 weeks later-- nothing from CMO
I call Back
Me "Wheres my board"
CMO "They are back ordered"
Me "When I ordered it 2 weeks ago you said you had plenty in stock"
CMO "I don't know what happened. Wait a minute, now I remember
Some value added reseller bought 35 of them on the same day
and wiped out everybody elses orders."
Me "When will I get my board"
CMO "You are 8th on the waiting list"
The next day
Me "Cancel the order on the Graphics Edge"
CMO "We just got them in, Your order is on the shipping dock"
Me "Cancel it anyway"
CMO "Are you sure, I think I see the UPS truck coming"
ME " forget it"
It will be interesting to see if they charged my Visa for the Order
