We need one. We're using HyperCard as the front-end to an Oracle application, and our primary key is a numeric. Oracle is automatically padding to 12 characters with leading zeroes for us, but when a user edits or hand-enters the key number with an embedded space, Oracle's SQL*Reportwriter chokes on the invalid data type (space in a numeric string). Anyone have a method for converting the text string we capture in our HC1.2.5 field to a numeric string, letting us test for invalid characters so we can get the user to retype the data? Please reply direct, if possible, as the bandwidth on this group blows by my site pretty quickly )-: . I'll summarize if it looks promising!
