I have been requested to summarize to the net the responses which I received
to my request for info on the AT&T UNIX PC. This is basically what I got:
Standard config:
68010 CPU
512K RAM
10M Hard disk
102/212 Modem built-in
RS232C
Centronics
Bit-mapped monochrome graphics with GSX drivers
UNIX System V version 1
There is a feature which allows hook-up of a standard desk phone so that you
can use it as a massive telephone directory/dialer. I got a benchmark report
that said it ran 20% faster than a VAX 11/750 running 4.2BSD. It is supposedly
*very* fast. The memory is expandable to at least 1M probably a lot more. The
machine is not IBM compatible, except that it will read IBM format disks. I
lost quite a few of the articles that I got initially, so this info is taken
only from the last several letters.
Once again, there is a nice article in BYTE May 85 that goes into a lot
more detail.
